We have what you need to help stop laptop and
computer theft!
Frequently asked questions.
Will I get locked out of my computer?
NO. You would have to sign-into your account, check the LOCK box
and then select update. You would need to sign-in to send a 1-50 character lockdown code
to your computer. If you forgot your lockdown code, you can sign into the web using
another computer and find out what your code is. .
Occasionally Windows XP owners will be presented with a password prompt that they are not
used to. The FrontDoorSoftware program does not know what your Windows password is. If you
had a password before, you still have that same one. If you did not have a password, just
leave the password field blank and then select OK to get to your operating system.
When
I sign-in, my program does not show that it had finished installing?
RESTART your computer. Then sign-in again. If that does not work, call us at 303-670-8800
8:30a-4:30p MST or email techsupport@frontdoorsoftware.com
There might be a firewall interfering with the installation, so contact us, because we can
normally fix that in just a couple minutes.
I
have different users using the same computer, and they want to access their own desktop.
Right now, the default sign-on screen displays the administrator's user name. If another
user wants to sign in, they just need to erase this name, and type in their own user name
and password. This will take them to their own desktop. If they forgot their user name and
password, they can ask an administrator to access the control panel and user account
information to find the user name and password.
If you own the equipment, and are issuing laptops to different users, you can allow them,
at your discretion to change sections of the recovery security screen. For example, an
accounting firm, law firm or other type of corporation, might allow an employee traveling
to change the User Recovery Information on the lower half of the Retriever screen. The
employee can change their phone and location number, and even report their laptop stolen.
The owner information at the top, and the lockdown code is still controlled by the owner.
Another example is a school district. A school district could issue laptops to students,
and display the name of the student that the laptop is issued to, but not allow students
to change the information displayed. If a laptop does go missing, the owner can remove the
students information, change the screen to report it stolen, and issue a lockdown code.
Owners can control what Users can change using the USER
CONTROL tab.

How secure is the database with my information?
Our database is located and provided by Network Solutions, a company providing leading web

Most of the information you decide to display is no different than information that anyone
can get from a local phone directory, or online phone directory. If you do not want any of
your ownership information to appear, and would like a third party listed, we can provide
a 3rd party recovery service for a small fee. Call us at 303-670-8800 to learn more.
