Lock your laptop's front door with FrontDoorSoftware! After
installation, RESTART your computer. You will begin to see your new FrontDoorSoftware
Theft Recovery Screen. If you are running Windows, your Ownership Security Screen appears
before or with your normal logon screen. The FrontDoorSoftware security program does not
know and does not affect your logon user name and password, so whatever password
you were using before, that is still your password. (If you did not
have a Windows password before, and you see a new password window prompt dialog
box asking for one, your current password is blank, so just leave the password field
blank, and push OK. If you want to set up a password, use your computer control panel
settings).
SIGN-IN
Visit
and select Owner Sign-In button to control your program. Once signed in,
you will see the tabs listed below. If your program has been successfully installed, you
will see the Installed/Last Connection Time filled in with a date and time. If you see the
words "Not Installed' please RESTART your computer, and check again. If it still
states "Not Installed", a firewall may be blocking the initial installation.
Please turn off your firewall, or you can call us at 303-670-8800 8:30a-4:30p MST or email
techsupport@frontdoorsoftware.com
and we can fix it in just a couple minutes. Take a couple minutes to register your
equipment information, and test your STOLEN and LOCK screens so you know how it works.
When you sign in, you will see the following tabs:
As you select each tab you will see
easy instructions, but here is a quick summary:
New cell phone number? Traveling? New address? New email?
Change and update your recovery information displayed on your standard FrontDoorSoftware
recovery display box as you move. Want to test the change? Select CTRL+ALT+DEL if you are
using Windows or Restart your computer.
Want to send a message to one or all the computers you
control right to the boot-up screen where people are sure to see it? With the SEND MESSAGE
tab you can send text message to all your computers at once, send out your own custom TALK
messages. You can also globally change recovery info fields.
Equipment Info
Asset management tool - Enter equipment type, model number,
serial number, etc. There is even room to add location information, any internal inventory
numbers, lease dates, etc. We even collect the OS version and MAC address for your
convenience. All this info can be exported to an excel file.
Stolen & Lock
Computer missing? You can do 6 things! Blast
a THIS COMPUTER IS STOLEN OR MISSING to the monitor, enter a 1-50 character lockdown code
that you can create to help protect your info, send a 'heartfelt' TEXT message to the
thief and send our our standard TALKING "HELP THIS COMPUTER IS STOLEN" message.
(If enabled, this message repeats when you check and update the stolen box). Using other
tabs, you can also update your ownership recovery information (Recovery Display tab), try
to track it's location (MAP/TRACK tab), and you can create your own TALK message to send
to the thief (TALK/MEDIA tab)!
Talk/Media
The media section is available for Windows XP and Vista. You
can use this tab or the SEND MESSAGE tab to TURN ON your standard
prevention start-up message (announces once), and your standard stolen
message (repeats when you check the stolen box). You can even create your own
messages. Send TALK message to one or more of your computers at once. You can even use
this feature to turn all your computers that are on in a building into a
Mass/Communication Alert system (for ex. FIRE, LOCKDOWN, etc..).
Map/Track
We capture all sorts of information to help give you clues as
to where your missing computer is communicating from. Powered by SkyHook, we provide a
hybrid positioning system combining the benefits of GPS, Cell Tower triangulation and
Wi-Fi positioning. Once the laptop communicates to our recovery center, pinpoint the
location on Google Maps!!
Owner Info
Change your owner address or phone number info. You can also
change your account email and password that you use to sign into your account. Make sure
your email is an active account in case we need to notify you.
User Control
Owners can allow users or employees to edit selected fields
(for example, change hotel recovery info as they travel). Users can sign-in using the
'Assigned To Sign-In" logon screen.(This appears below the Owner-login screen after
you select the owner-login button on our
website. If your Users are admins, use our Email-Install feature to protect all your user
laptops at once!

Hints & Shortcuts:
Remember to use your EDIT and UPDATE
links on the left when updating your information. For Windows, you can use CTRL+ALT+DEL
to simulate a computer boot-up to save time when testing if you want to see your change.
Changing the screen to STOLEN simply changes the screen so don't be
afraid to try it. You will not be locked out.
Lockdown Code note: The default is
your customer number, but you can change this to any 1-50 character code. Please write
down this code first when testing your lockdown code (or just make sure you have internet
access to your account using another computer).
Print Security Label
Select the SECURITY LABEL tab above to print a security label for the outside
of your computer. You want someone to turn on your computer to see your current recovery
ownership information, and to have the FrontDoorSoftware security program try to send out
clues to its location.
